Description
Here we have a 1969 release from Mighty Baby, who were formed out of the ashes of legendary mid sixties mod band,The Action. This is their debut LP ISSUED IN 1969 on the small Head label. The tracklisting is :- Egyptian Tomb/A Friend You Know But Never See/I`ve Been Down So Long/Same Way From The Sun/House Without Windows/Trials Of A City/I`m From The Country/At A Point Between Fate And Destiny. Before I describe the condition of the record and sleeve, let me say that I am aware that this is a highly collectable album, and that it is listed in the current Record Collector Guide at £150 in mint condition.I am also aware that collectors will be looking at this album, and possibly bidding.May I say to you all,I will try to describe the condition of the record as honestly and accurately as possible. If you are not sure, please dont bid,as I wish to avoid any hassle over descriptions.I work in a record shop, and have a lot of experience of grading these kind of albums, but it is different here on the net, where you cant look at them,as you can in a shop.Anyway, here goes :- The gatefold cover has storage wear around the edges, mostly quite light, but there is a quite heavy patch in the bottom left hand corner of the spine.Obviously, the previous owner did not keep the record in a plastic sleeve, like I do mine. The titles down the spine are still visible however. There are no major creases, but there is some light print through on the back cover (only really noticeable close up)I would grade the sleeve between VG and EX.The previous owner has written his name (small letters) in green felt pen around the top edge of the `A` side label, and his initials on the edge of the `B` side labe. This was a common practice in the sixties,as people used to lend their records out.Now comes the best bit.The record itself shows not a lot of signs of being played. There are some light visible marks on the the record, but most of them are of the hairline type you get from taking the record out of the sleeve.there are hardly any spindle marks,a tell tale sign of heavy playing of a record.I played the LP through, and it sounds great with very little background noise.I would grade the `A` side of the record between EX and EX+ (closer to EX+) and the `B` side EX+.For me the condition of the record makes up for the lesser quality of the sleeve. If you have any questions, please dont hesitate to ask.I have started the bidding off low, because this copy is not in mint condition, but you dont see many copies of this album around in any condition, and this one does play quite nicely.
