MIKE WESTBROOK CONCERT BAND, MARCHING SONG BOOK VOL. 1, DERAM UK-69 SML 1047
+ Original UK jazz rarity + See my other auctions for Mike Westbrooks Concert Band's Celebration LP +
DISC/S: EX-, visually there is only one 0.5 surface scuff mark (pictured below), which is silent, the surface has lost some of its gloss and has faint storage bonding marks from long term storage in the polyliner.
The matrix number is ZAL-9033.P-1W, the 'W' means this pressing was mastered by Decca master engineer Harry Fisher, who along with Ted Burkett produced some of the best sounding records of all time, both with releases consistently on the audiophile TAS / HP lists. You can read more about these engineers on the LondonJazzCollector website, or Harry Pearson's highend-audio website, amongst others.
AUDIO GRADE: EX-/VG+ plays mostly clear and fine with no skips, jumps, no loud pops, no obstrusive crackle, hiss or ticks but does have the occasional background noise and minimal quiet crackle noticeable in the quietest passages, let me reiterate that this is a minimal presence only, for example during the Landscape movement, which on side 1 I can just hear some surface noise but I would say it is deep in the background and does not get in the way of the music, which is quiet superb. I still grade this record at the low end of excellent. I suggest zapping the surface with an antistatic gun or brush before playing.
SLEEVE: EX-, mostly glossy and clean, light wear including a few laminate crinkles. The reverse is clean and readable (pictured below), corners slightly decompressed (pictured)
INNER: original polylined Decca inner. VG+
LABELS: (PICTURED) proud with a little spindle scuffs at the hole (minimal and pictured)
MATRIX: ZAL-9033.P-1W

Now the boring bit ...
