MILES DAVIS: “Black Beauty – Miles Davis At Fillmore West” (CBS Sony – SOPJ-39~40) Japan original 1st press of all killer – no filler Miles jam. Original Japanese press. Recorded on April 10, 1970, Miles Davis and his band lit up the legendary Fillmore West in San Francisco. The core-melting line-up consisted out of Dave Holland on electric bass, Jack DeJohnette pounding away on the drums, and not least of all Chick Corea. Corea has quite amassed some air-pollution like music that defies good taste and such but on this record the man seems to be gifted with fire-breathing fingertips, coming over like almost a totally deranged sonic terrorist, coaxing sapphire bullets of pure hedonist distortion out of his Fender Rhodes and coating the overall sonic assault into a veil of auditory hallucination caused by ring modulator madness. Fronting all this mayhem is of course Miles Davis who begins to flirt with funk rhythms and tossing out more structured song forms in favor of theme-based improvisation. same strong opening theme before veering in different directions; just jaw-dropping great. Original Japanese pressing housed in heavy gatefold jacket.

New to the e-bay game but long experience in selling records so bid with confidence.

Our grading scale: Mint/ Near Mint/ Excellent/ VG++/. We don’t sell anything below VG++. VG++ grade is basically that the record has some scuffs and has wear. Excellent: record has hardly no visible defects and is preserved with care and attention, the condition most collectors take pride in to file away. Near Mint: a dash below mint, just perfect. Mint: like new.
