Miles showed up to the Columbia recording studio with some rough melodies and chords jotted down on paper and the band proceeded to track each song in one or two takes. 

Today, over 50 years after it was released, "Kind of Blue" remains the bestselling jazz album of all time. More than 4 million copies have been sold, and the album still sells an average of 5,000 copies a week.

Kind Of Blue es quizás el álbum de jazz definitivo. Las sesiones de grabación efectuadas en solo dos días del 1959, marcan un punto de inflexión en la historia del jazz. Miles apareció en los estudios Columbia con algunas melodías esbozadas en papel y la banda procedió a grabar cada tema en una o dos tomas, tal y como a Miles le gustaba grabar.

Hoy en día, tras más de 50 años del lanzamiento del álbum resultante de aquellas dos sesiones, Kind Of Blue sigue siendo el disco más vendido en la historia del jazz: más de 4 millones de copias en todo el mundo y aún se vende una media de 5000 copias a la semana.
