Description
MILES DAVIS VOLUME 2 Blue Note 1502, "P", "RVG," DG, Mono Vinyl
This is the first-pressing 1953, Frame Cover, "RVG", Deep-Groove, Flat Rim, "P"-pressing of MILES DAVIS VOLUME 2 on the Blue Note Records 767 Lexington Ave NYC labels of Blue Note BLP 1502. (No "R" under "Note" on label) Musicians include Horace Silver, Jay Jay Johnson, Percy Heath, Art Blakey.
This is a punchy-sounding disc with excellent detail and resolution of all instruments; great tone and depth. Rich, clear and very dynamic. VINYL has consistent pops and ticks, that lessen in volume as each side proceeds. No distortion. No skips. No warps. No locked grooves. Nice gloss on both sides. As with all Lexington Ave to New York USA Blue Note pressings, imperfections do not detract from this powerfully recorded, engineered and pressed vinyl. Instruments are clear, rich, full of tone, very dynamic. Side 1: 1/2/3, low level pops and ticks, 4/5/6, some tracks almost entirely quiet with minor pops and ticks, track 6--repeating tick. Side 2 slightly noisier than 1. 2--1/2/3 medium to high level surface noise present. 4/5 low volume ticks to silence, track 5 ballad, medium to low level pops and ticks. Good gloss both sides. The Deep-Grooved Blue Note Records 767 Lexington Ave NYC labels are clean and show minimal spindle marks/wear. Few hairline marks, 1" feelable scratch.
FRAME COVER shows minimal aging, spines and seams are in very good condition. See photos. Corners worn, see photos. "BLUE NOTE RECORDS, 767 Lexington Ave., New York 21" back jacket shows various signs of wear and minor water stains in lower left corner, see photos.
This LP was play-tested on a high-end system consisting of Music Hall MMF-7.3 turntable/Ortofon Bronze cartridge, Heed Audio Elixir integrated amplifier, Heed Quasar Phono stage and Quad S2 speakers (with very revealing ribbon tweeters). Record cleaned on VPI 16.5.
