Mina isn't simply a singer, isn't simply an interpreter.

Mina is a devastating force, whom can render you unable to breath, overwhelmed of emotions you didn't know possible through the power of her voice and her deliverance.

Mina is so extraordinary that her brilliance will have you staggering, even with a song made up of a single word.

Mina might be known as the voice of Italy and might be seen as a National Treasure, as imports as the Sistine Chapel, or Ferrari and revered as the best which Italy could ever offer, to be proud of and protective about, and for every and each Italian, she is their own individual and at times personal, memories, a particular song of hers brings back to the surface and many times unexpectedly, evokes feelings and sensations thought passed.

To myself Mina has meant and means much more then that.

Mina has held my hand in a solitary childhood.

Mina has taught me love I was never shown.

Mina has told me what my emotions were and allowed me to express them.

Mina has guided me, has guarded me, has embraced me,,has understood me and even saved my life.

Mina is the voice of my life.

Mina is the essence of my soul.

Mina is the refuge, the beauty, the light, the joy.

Mina is a life long, constant companion of travel, in the journey of living.

I was ten years old when I heard her singing for the first time "Tu sarai la ma voce" and I knew there and then, chocked by uncontrollable tears, she was going to be my voice and that's exactly whom she has been.

I had only heard Cinquemilaquarantatre for years, before hearing that Del mio meglio record with that song.

My mother couldn't stand her, which made her the only thing which was mine, away from her controlling wishes, or her opinions and influence.

Some how I managed to convince her to give me Rane Supreme, as a Christmas present the following year, which was an achievement not only the type of present but to have received any at all.

After that, first with the help of family then as I grew I could on my own, I kept buying her records, new and old and keeping them hidden, until the moment my mother would be out and I could play them.

I never stopped buying her records, but I moved to London in 1993 and I thought I hadn't bought any more of her records in vinyl as I couldn't play them and I started to buying CD.

I have all her records in the original CD versions sealed, and the remastered; Mina still means all she did and more even on my late fourths and I'm restlessly waiting for her next album, having passed 5 years since Maeba and that's unheard of her, who she would releases one if not more at year.

But I've come to the realisation that after 30 years in my wardrobe, this collection of her records, which I started all those years back, means so much to me, it is so much of my history, that it can't be left in a wardrobe, nor risk to be thrown away one day, maybe even by my own son, whom himself 10 years old now, knows of Mina and he likes her songs, mostly while we are on holidays in Italy and he gets to recognise some of the songs he hears home, but it doesn't know Mina, he doesn't know the power, he doesn't know what gift to life she is.

So this collection need to go to someone who knows and will treasure it, love it and appreciate its power.

Apart a couple which are only a few years later reprint, which I didn't know, all the records are the original first editions. Very few have the odd scratch but nothing major and play perfectly, some like Napoli have never being played, as I was already living in London and didn't have a record player anymore and I bought it only for the collection as I had the CD also.
