PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. ORIGINAL 1974 first pressing of the two Pink Floyd assisted SYD BARRETT solo's recorded in 1970 1971 from the UK metal masters...
Pink Floyd co-founder/original guitarist/singer/songwriter Syd Barrett's first solo album entitled The Madcap Laughs was released in January of 1970.
The album would not be released here in the US until the Syd Barrett double album entitled Syd Barrett came out in 1974.
The album was recorded throughout 1968 and 1969 with producers Malcolm Jones whom produced most of the first half of the disc and the closing classic "Late Night". It was also produced by Roger Waters and David Gilmour of Pink Floyd.
By this point, the effects of Syd's drug use sadly started to deteriorate his songwriting skills and his mental state (he sadly passed away from pancreatic cancer in 2006).
There are an abundance of great tracks like the opening "Terrapin", "No Good Trying", "Here I Go", "Octopus", "Golden Hair", "Long Gone" and the aforementioned "Late Night".
The songs that show Syd stripped and just him and his guitar are the haunting "Dark Globe", "She Took A Long Cold Look", "Feel" (which has him stopping and flipping the page and continuing the song) and "If It's In You" (complete with its false start). David Gilmour believed enough in Syd to produce his album. You've probably read that the recording sessions were extremely difficult due to Syd's declining health and mental abilities to create, remember and concentrate - hence the importance of this collection of songs by a true "Mad hatter", par excellence....
