PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Original 1967 first pressing vinyl on the highly collected DECCA RECORDS label of the sixties. The CAKE were an intersting girl group trio...this is their first and arguably best of two Lp's released in 1967 ...

Not bound by the chains of any Phil Spectors, The Cake are one of the lucky ones...a girl group allowed to freely explore all of their artistic ambitions. Not to say their sound isn't full and vibrant, because it is. It's hard to see any of these ladies being restrained by a man. They were the original punks of girl group poprock.
You see, The Cake's sound is peppered with baroque, psychedelic and medieval influences never before seen by any 60s girl group of the 60's era. With a unique sound, "Medieval Love" is a gorgeous tune, and luckily, the girls are able to harmonize perfectly in the studio with fabulous results. The kind of stuff teenagers would have danced to back then. "Fire Fly" and "Rainbow Wood" continue in this medieval vein, creating a Holy Trilogy of femme baroque goodness. As for the more typical "girl group"-type pop songs, you have "Baby That's Me", which is decent enough. Their sound on this album is extremely rich, and they seem to do quite well in recreating the Phil Spector sound and although they could blend in with the other '60s girl groups in places, overall you can tell they were very unique. Even their takes on "Stand By Me", and the album closer "What'd I Say" actually do pay off.

CONDITION: The cover: Solid and colorful - just like it was in swinging '67 - rated MINT in factory shrink wrapper ...has the smallest bb delete you can't even see at bottom right...otherwise flat, square & sharp everywhere ...no split seams, no bends, and no writing ... collection worthy rarity ...
The vinyl: Shiny clean over both sides, M- TOP COPY and has very enjoyable CLEAN audio. NO distracting surface problems ... both DECCA labels are clean
