WITH MUCH APPRECIATION TO ALL OUR CUSTOMERS: If you have a question on orders received, please contact us. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. When leaving Feedback, please consider the following: eBay's policy on the 5-star rating system is anything less than a 5 reduces our standing with eBay and ultimately can affect our selling abilities. SO please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! We have served thousands of satisfied customers - far more than our feedback records indicate - and our aim is to continue to do so.
We have a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 2/3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers.
We mail all paid orders out once a week on Fridays/Saturdays. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule to Monday. We strive to keep our shipping and handling costs as close to actual charges as reasonable. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. Please be aware we have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.
TO OUR REPEAT CUSTOMERS: We are happy to hold orders to save on shipping. Please pay your current invoice within five days of auctions ending and, if you request, we will hold your order and reflect a shipping discount for each additional order shipped together in the same parcel.
As always, thank you for your support!

*** STILL IN ORIGINAL FACTORY SHRINK WRAPPER ***
Taking their name from Mervyn Peake's gothic fantasy novel, Titus Groan was a quartet lead by guitar/keyboardist and singer Stewart Cowell and wind player Tony Priestland. Their sound approaches the early UK progressive greats with all tracks being over 5 minutes long and promising. Centred around the great 11:37-minute Hall Of Bright Carvings track (also a Peake theme), the album was issued in early 1970.
The overall impression of TITUS GROAN's music may be described as neo-medieval, which despite being sort of an oxymoron is a pretty depiction. A lot of what leads to that impression is thanks to the flute and oboe playing, but bassist John Lee also contributes with an almost martial sound that isn’t very complex but gives the music a depth that serves to ground it in the sort of timeless setting that many of Jethro Tull’s albums also have. The harmonizing vocals are pure early seventies, particularly on the album’s longest song “Hall of Bright Carvings”. But despite it’s length of around 12 minutes this isn’t a prog epic or anything; in fact, the band spends quite a bit of time jamming in the middle and toward the end of the song and one might be left with the impression this was primarily a crowd-pleasing live number.
The “heavy” part of the heavy prog here is due to Stuart Cowell’s intense electric guitar riffs, which along with his organ bleating on tracks like “I Can't Change” make for a hard-rocking sound that was quite popular at the time.
At times the harmonizing vocals serve to date the music even more definitively. “It's All Up With Us” is the best example of this.
Overall TITUS GROAN is recommended mostly to folks who have a fondness for pre-synthesizer era progressive, exotic underground rock and primitive production.

CONDITION: The cover is MINT- in original factory shrink wrap: a real rare find for this cover, when almost all existing copies have shelf wear due to the dark color that did knot wear well. the original owner put clear tape along the pocket edge to keep the outer cellophane wrapper tight like a new release. very solid on all areas, no bends, no writing, no split seams...only having a very small bb delete in center (& label) which is minor but there.
The vinyl is all glossy clean and clear M- looks totally clean and plays top level.
