Please keep in mind, we would prefer to continue to provide you the opportunity to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office. Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our well over +22,000 positive feedback. We use an ultrasonic KLAudio machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! After Van Morrison’s departure from the group in 1966, Them relocated to Los Angeles, California and released a few Lp's, collectible worthwhile efforts. The group completely revamped their image and sound behind Jim Armstrong’s accomplished guitar work and Ken McDowell’s vocals; the only hold over from the Van Morrison era was guitarist Alan Henderson. Now And “Them” and Time Out! Time In For are by far and away the best LPs the post Van Morrison Them ever produced.
Let us get this out in the open right here: the psychedelic era "Them" is as important as early Van Morrison's Them, particularly with Them’s first LP and their early singles (psych fans will probably agree!) Early "Them" were a hard edged British R&B group who were both innovative and revered in their day. Singer Van Morrison is a legend, however, and Them’s early work is considered some of the best pure rock n roll and R&B jams from the time frame of '64-'66
That being said, this album is an excellent psychedelic record. The musicianship is way above the average, particularly Jim Armstrong’s guitar work. Mean lean fuzz leads are painted all over this album. The opening cut “Time Out For Time In” is very good with complex time signatures with effective sitar work.
Many of the LP tracks are with dramatic vocal phrasing and pretentious lyrics but that’s only minor.
Exotic numbers like “The Moth” and the lyrically bizarre “Waltz of the Flies” work best, employing a variety of instruments and strange sounds. Another highlight, “Black Widow Spider,” is a classic sitar head-swirler while the boys give a good blues psych reading of “I Put A Spell On You” (titled here “I Put A Hex On You”)
Once again, if you expect the unexpected and enjoy classic psychedelia, this record is for you. It’s not the original Them but not many bands are.
The Alan Henderson/Jim Armstrong/Ken McDowell lineup is a very underrated group, the music is outstanding and full of mysticism. During this era, Them also had a good live reputation throughout the Los Angeles area and released some fine singles including the killer rated garage punker “Dirty Old Man.”
