Description

PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question.   OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. Because of that dedication, there should be no need to open a resolution dispute before working with us.  Please keep in mind, we would prefer to continue to provide you the opportunity to acquire the rare music we present each and every week.   Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office. Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable.  We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our well over 18,000 positive feedback.   We use an ultrasonic KLAudio machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery.   We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! We have served thousands of satisfied customers - far more than our feedback records indicate - and our aim is to continue to do so. Thank you for your interest and support.   ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ SHIPPING:   USA ~ 1 LP = $4.00 Media Priority rates vary by area; please inquire.   All Canadian and Overseas shipping ~ Please inquire about rates. The Eagles absolutely nailed it with "Desperado," which ranks with The Byrds "Sweethard of the Rodeo" and Gram Parsons' "Return of the Grevious Angel" as a high-water mark for '70's infectious rural rock.

If ever a group of musicians had a clear vision of where they wanted to go and how to get there, it was these southern California boys who built a steady rolling FM hit factory on basic tenets of Gram Parsons's invention of rural-rock. For their second album, the group decided concept was most important and set out to portray themselves as keepers of the old West--their outlaw image a natural for those born unto rock and roll soil. Although the album wasn't a commercial hit at the time, over the years it has come to recognition of being a creative and artistic masterpiece. It is considered by many to be one of the greatest country rock albums of all time. Containing songs rich with Western/outlaw imagery, singers Glen Frey and Don Henley's trademark vocals were never better in delivering classics like "Tequila Sunrise," "Saturday Night," and the title track - and with Bernie Leadon still in the band, the authenticity of the group's country underpinnings were never stronger. Released in 1973, the Eagles second album was a risky venture---a concept album with the old West as its setting and a youthful outlaw as its protagonist. The four original members--Don Henley, Glenn Frey, Bernie Leadon and Randy Meisner--share vocals admirably. DESPERADO has a raw, sparse feel. It's direct and uncluttered, primal in its instrumentation.
And the songs are some of the groups finest. DOOLIN-DALTON sets the stage beautifully, a stunning marriage of lyric and melody. TWENTY ONE celebrates the advent of manhood with its strong bluegrass influence. That innocent joy mutates to sheer self-indulgence in OUT OF CONTROL, a raucuous rocker that lives up to its title. The morning after blues is poetically addressed in TEQUILA SUNRISE, one of the two hit singles from the album. And what can one say about DESPERADO that hasn't been said? One of rock's most beloved ballads, the song flawlessly paints an epic ode to lost hopes and dreams, its urgent plea to "let somebody love you" forever haunting. Next is the cynically wise CERTAIN KIND OF FOOL. A quick reprise of DOOLIN DALTON segues into the driving OUTLAW MAN. It epitomizes the outlaw's commitment to his chosen life and foreshadows his ultimate fate. SATURDAY NIGHT is a beautiful piece, its simplicity both touching and tragic. BITTER CREEK is a somber prelude to the inevitable showdown. The album concludes with the DOOLIN-DALTON/DESPERADO reprise, a remarkable reworking of the lyrics, its counter-vocals bringing a rousing finale to the story.
DESPERADO is a notable album for both the Eagles and country-rock. Few albums have fused country and rock so effectively. It has stood the test of time.
