in their recent article RECORD COLLECTOR MAGAZINE said of this album:
Even in many years of collecting BLUE HORIZON, this album very rarely crops up. It presumably sold very few copies at the time ,as today it is one of the labels elusive rarities. Recorded on 21st July 1968 , at Memphis Ardent Studios ,it's an interesting fact that Furry Lewis was cutting his country blues album in the next studio. Callicott started writing songs at the age of 11 ,though he took to the guitar in his early teens ,after receiving encouragement from his life long friend Garfield Ackers. The pair began working together ,developing their own style in the Delta Blues vein ,though they remained largely overlooked. When Ackers passed away , a heart - broken Joe virtually gave up music for life ,though he was encouraged by Furry Lewis to make a comeback for the Memphis Blues Festival. That turned out to be a blessing as Mike Vernon was impressed enough to record him for the Country Blues series. Assisted by the whistling Bukka White , this comeback was sadly also a swansong for Joe who passed away in the wake of the albums release.
