Description
This is a fine copy of a 1982 UK comp of singles and unreleased tracks by American ex-pat freatbeat/psych group the Misunderstood. Discovered in Riverside, CA, by a British ex-pat DJ, they were coaxed across the Big Pond in mid-1966, where they were lionized by another British DJ, pirate radio legend John Peel, and laid down six tracks that were as sonically groundbreaking as anything the Who or Yardbirds had recorded up to that point. Two of these tracks were released as a single, and two more (including their best known track, "Children of the Sun") appeared on a second single three years later. These two singles and the other two tracks from the UK session make up side 1 of this comp. Side 2 contains seven tracks from acetates recorded by the band when they were still in California. The jacket has some mild discoloration along the edge, and to a lesser extent along the spine and top seam on the back cover, and is otherwise close to pristine (EX). The disc has some hairline scrapes and light scuffing, and plays with some light surface noise (mostly on side 2) (EX). The record comes with a custom inner sleeve.
I’m in the process of selling off a large personal collection amassed over two decades. All discs have been stored in plastic lined inner sleeves separate from their sleeves. The sleeves have been stored in plastic sleeves. I have play graded discs except where otherwise noted.
