Description

Mnemonist Orchestra "Mnemonists Orchestra" LP privately issued by Mnemonists for their Dys Records (DYS 01) in USA, 1979. Edition limited to 100 copies. Original booklet also included. ****** Rec:ex / Cov:ex ****** Offered here is the top rare first LP by Mnemonists, one of the early founders of the american underground avant-garde.Original first edition issued in 1979 in an edition limited to 100 copies. This is actually the best copy i've ever seen! Colorado-based Mnemonists, later renamed Biota, were among the earliest avant-garde groups that engaged in chaotic collages and harked back to abstract, dadaistic art. They assembled wild assortments of sonic events on albums such as the monumental "Mnemonist Orchestra" (or "dys 01", their first LP from 1979). The band formed in 1979 in Fort Collins, Colorado as Mnemonist Orchestra (later Mnemonists) lead by Mark Debyshir and William Sharp and started recording albums on their own self-produced label, Dys. Around 1981/82 they split into a visual arts group retaining the Mnemonists name and a musical group called Biota. This is their first LP in a thick hand glued cover limited to around 100 copies, and contains an 8-page insert with various art prints by the project. "dys 01" was recorded in March 1979, Fort Collins, Colorado (U.S.A.). The musicians improvised within loose arrangements intended to suggest the concept of each piece. All pre-taped sounds were mixed live with the other instruments.
