When Matthew Katz (Moby Grape’s original manager) and The Group parted their ways (under quite unfriendly circumstances), Mr. Katz walked away with the original master tapes of the Group’s classic studio albums (which, alas, he still owns and controls). In the late ‘70s, Matthew Katz reissued all Moby Grape albums (long out of print by that point) in their original covers, by using those original master tapes. These titles sound awesome and are on par with the original Columbia pressings in every way. Unlike the Grape’s first album , the second and third album (Wow and Grape Jam) were – for some reasons unknown to us mortals – packaged together, as a twofer (which can be split in two individual albums after the shrink wrap is removed) and this is the package we are offering here.

Wow was the second - and final Moby Grape studio album to include now-legendary Skip Spence. It is a worthy successor of the band's legendary first album. (b)            The records are apparently pressed on a beautiful, thick, inflexible vinyl, which was usually used for the first or very early pressings. Usually, the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, vivid, and even dramatic. Do not expect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from a digital recording!

(c)             Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!
