Description
In 1978, FORTY FIVE years ago, Southern boogie rock band Molly Hatchet released their debut, self-titled album. It was a solid effort, and they even have an Allman Brothers remake on it! There were no radio hits, as that would come with the next record ('Flirtin' With Disaster'). The album was produced by Tom Werman and Pat Armstrong. Werman went on to produce MANY bands in the 80s, as well as producing ALL of the Molly Hatchet albums until 1983.
The cover's artwork was done by artist Frank Frazzetta, who ended up doing a total of THREE Molly Hatchet album covers: 'Molly Hatchet', 'Flirtin' With Disaster', and 'Beatin' the Odds'. The band's original lineup has all passed away, and the new lineup is still carrying on to this very day! (RIP Danny Joe, Dave, Duane, Bruce, Steve, and Banner. You guys were talented and rockin', and made Southern rock cool again!)
This album came out, and a limited number of picture discs were made to promote it. They were never made in mass quantities, and were only given out to radio stations and DJs, and select record stores. The first two Molly Hatchet picture discs are a bit hard to find, and can be costly. (The third is a little more common.) But grab yourself a copy today, available here and now, and at a nice price!
This comes in its original die-cut jacket. The back of the jacket has an essay about the band, and song titles and credits (as well as a band photo). Picture disc is the same pic on both sides. Sound quality was terrible in those days, so please understand that these were made for display, and not really to play. With that said, the record has a few light surface marks on it, but nothing too bad. The jacket is looking a bit rough, but still intact, and still held together. An awesome Molly Hatchet collectible, and a nice, rare find in the world of vintage picture disc collecting!
I no longer ship worldwide. The costs are WAY too high, and we can't track the item after it leaves the States. It's not fair to US sellers, or worldwide buyers. I'm really sorry, and hope that all of our overseas friends understand. Please know that I don't make money on shipping. In fact sellers usually lose money on shipping, as eBay keeps a portion. But I pack well using sturdy cardboard or bubble wrap mailers and this should arrive to you in great shape! Expedited shipping is available to anyone who wants it. Just choose that option when checking out.
Let me know if you have any questions or concerns. I'll get back to you as soon as I can. Ask me about combined shipping when you make multiple purchases. If there are any problems once you receive your item(s), please give me a chance to make it right. MOST problems are easily resolved... Immediate payment if I accept your best offer, please. Also, if you try to make a seriously low-ball offer, it will automatically decline it. (REASONABLE offers usually get accepted.) Thanks for stopping by. Take care, and have a great day!
