Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. The version of "Everybody needs somebody to love is 5 minutes long (the American version is only 3 minutes). This is the real version, the other is a studio rehearsal. Same thing for "Time is on my side". The american version is about 2:30 minutes, with the organ intro. Here is the guitar intro... Much better.While maybe not as ferocious or revolutionary as their debut, the Rolling Stones' second album is still a very entertaining affair. It seems they had traded most of their blues and heavy rock & roll roots, shifting their focus towards more poppy rhythm & blues and soul material. Still, there is some rollicking rock & roll and raunchy blues. But even most of these tracks sound a bit more sophisticated than their debut. Overall the tempo has been slowed down a little, on a lot of the tracks the emphasis lies on a soul beat with Jaggers vocals very suitable for the black/soul direction: Time Is on My Side from Irma Thomas, The Drifters Under the Boardwalk and Pain in My Heart borrowed form Otis Redding. The Rolling Stones were clearly developing themselves, working on style and looking for new territory to cover. They were even slowly stretching their songwritting skills, as demonstrated by the three originals on the album. A development which would become stronger in the near future. Still, the best tracks of the album are among the covers, not the originals. I've never been that charmed with most of the Stones' soul ballads though, so for me the definite highlights are the carefree rock & roll of tracks like Down the Road Apiece and You Can't Catch Me, and their brilliant cover of Muddy Waters I Can't Be Satisfied.
For the US market this album was mercilessly butchered, split in half, spread across two releases. Of course supplemented by some filler and, a few tracks that had already been a hit single, to attract the necessary attention. The result of this was the halfhearted 12 x 5 and the slightly better The Rolling Stones, Now!. The funny thing about the latter album is, that it is often mistaken for the Stones' second album although it was their third in the US and never even released in the UK.
“Lord I swear the perfume you wear was made out of turnip greens and every time I kiss you girl it tastes like pork and beans. Even though you're wearing them citified high heels I can tell by your giant step you been walking through the cotton fields”. Once again the greater part of the album consists of covers with the classic Stones stamp that can’t fail in such effective rendering. “What a shame, nothing seems to be going right, it seems easy to me that everything can be alright”. “What a Shame”, “Off the Hook” and “Grown Up Wrong” are excellent originals.
