MONO Velvet Undergound & Nico YELLOW LABEL PROMO self-titled LP torso cvr 1967

What I’m offering is a RARE YELLOW LABEL PROMO MONO copy of the self-titled debut psych LP by The Velvet Underground & Nico, issued on Verve V-5008 in 1967. This is an ORIGINAL pressing and NOT a reissue of any kind.

The grading on the LP is VG cover, VG/ VG- record.

The cover, which is the TORSO cover and was created and designed by Andy Warhol, has light surface wear, small dings/ creases in the corners, one of which resulted in a small amount of paper loss in the bottom right corner (see close-up scan), a piece of green tape that was put on at a radio station which wraps around from the front to the back in the top left corner, a ½ inch X 2 inch area of paper loss in the bottom right corner on the back (see close-up scan), and a few small (pinhead size) areas of paper loss on the top and bottom seams. Oh, and if you haven’t noticed, the yellow banana sticker has been peeled off.

The record, which comes in its original Verve inner sleeve, has numerous scuffs and scratches, some of which are quite lengthy, but most of which are completely inaudible either due to the severity of the scuff/ scratch or due to the volume of the music. Let’s face it, this is a LOUD LP musically. I played the LP and it was an enjoyable listen. I did not find it too distracting. Basically, there is a random occasional click or pop here and there during playback with the notable exception of the songs Sunday Morning, Femme Fatale and I’ll Be Your Mirror, which are a little more noisy and noticeable due to the softness of the songs. This is NOT a trashed copy by any means. Visually, you will notice plenty of scuffs and scratches, but audibly it plays back much, much better.

This is a very rare record as a mono promo copy. I can’t imagine the normal press run back in 1967 of this mono promo was any more than 1000 copies, if that. If I was to place a guess, I would venture to guess that there are probably no more than 200 copies of this mono promo still in existence, if that.
