Description

PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question.   OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week.   Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback.   We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery.   We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! We have served thousands of satisfied customers - far more than our feedback records indicate - and our aim is to continue to do so. Thank you for your interest and support. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

STILL VERY under-valued when pound for pound is heads and tails BETTER than similar rarities that are sell for more ...NO weak tracks, brutal fuzz drenched in killer psychedelic hardrock "tunes" with melodic overtones..."killer" rated ...

Always sought after, file next to the US "DRAGONFLY" LP on megaphone ...Original 1968 first pressing of a cool fuzz/psych monster:

Hailing from the same gila monster-infested Arizona desert wilderness that produced an unlikely harvest of fertile bands (Alice Cooper's Spiders, Kennelmus, Phil & The Frantics) the Twentieth Century Zoo were the center of what was happening to music as 1966 blossomed into 1967-68. These Phoenix mushroom-heads stirred the savage fuzzback-laced sounds of the garage generation into the brain-baking trippiness of the emerging SF ballroom scene and made a concoction all their own!   *Bob Sutko (vocals, harmonica),
*Allan Chitwood (bass),
*Greg Farley (guitar),
*Paul "Skip" Ladd (lead guitar),
*Randy Wells (drums).

This is band's sole release stands as one of our favorite slices of '60s psychedelia. A late-sixties psychedelic group, Twentieth Century Zoo were the first such band from Phoenix to get an album released and nationally distributed, even if that LP was on a small L.A. label, and not many people would hear it.
The band evolved from The Bitter Sweets, which had a couple of singles on the small Caz label, the first of these, "You Don't Remember, " being respectable psych-punk in the mold of the Music Machine.

In late 1968, the group recorded this sole album in Los Angeles for Vault Records (SLP-122), "Thunder On A Clear Day", featuring elongated fuzz-sustain riffs and heavy organ. At times there was also a hard blues-rock feel, which could break into tedium on longer tracks, such as the ten-minute "Blues With a Feeling."

Twentieth Century Zoo got to open for several bigger bands, such as Iron Butterfly and Blue Cheer, and did one more single for Vault before breaking up in 1970. Primarily hard rock fueled psychedelic rock throughout with brief mellow moments. Featuring extended amounts of fuzzy liquid riffs and solos, and just a trip to the mind when the needle drops on this album.

The highlights are all over the place including the opener, "Quiet Before The Storm". As soon as the shimmering organ brings the light upon the clear blue sky, with mellow lyrics in the beginning the storm strikes with amazing sounds of fuzz. Followed by "Rainbow" which is my other highlight with its fast paced, heavy riffs and echoing guitar solos just makes this one hell of a killer high speed trip! "It's All In My Head" is another psych piece that takes you to another dimension. Killer album for its time indeed!
