you are bidding on a very rare NM copy of MOONDOG On the Streets Of New York this is an extended play 45 on the MARS label MREP-A2 heres your chance to get some of Moondogs earliest recorded materisl Apparently this was recorded by Tony Schwartz as part of his project New York 19 in the 1950's. Not unlike John Hammond who recorded early folk music (Muddy Waters, etc) in the deep south. Tony's project 19 consisted of recording folk expressions of the community in which he lived, namely New York City. extensive liner notes on back speak about Moondogs past history, his influences, his arrival in NYC, and his wife Suzuko. song list: side 1 AVENUE OF THE AMERICAS an improvisation in 7-4 tine on the Oo. (the Oo apparently being one of MD's homemade instruments) 2 WEST 46TH STREET recorder solo in 5-8 time LILLABY Suzuoko sings in three octaves.... FOG ON THE HUDSON Oo solo in 4-4 time side 2 UTSU Suzuko plays the Utsu in 4-5 time. Introducing the Utsu a small keyboard instrument in the 5-tone scale ON AND OFF THE BEAT a Study in 5-4 rhythm CHANT introducing the Uni (7 strings in unison) FROM ONE TO NINE nine wuarter beat rhythm in snake time the cover is perfect with no storage wear at all the disc is NM a fantastic hardly played peice of vinyl. there is a spindle adapter in the cente hole of the record sorry about the flash glare in the pic the cover is just so glossy I could'nt help it.
