MORT GARSON, THE WOZARD OF IZ, ON A&M (SP 4156) CANADA. I believe this was released in 1968, this is music beyond the imagination and way ahead of it's time, some have called it a gimmick and others just called it weird. The truth is, it's really one of the most important records of all time, you have to remember the time it came out, electronics was bleeps and blips, or strange experimental lps from Stockhausen or Mimoroglu, but nobody had tried a concept album, and especially not a concept album that tore the mask off of an all time classic, "The Wizard Of Oz", but this lp did just that, not only that, but it poked it's electronic finger right in the eye of of the mass media!!!

The Wozard of Iz was a collaboration with Jacques Wilson (who apparently wrote and conceived the project). The musical, which might have been intended to go beyond just a recorded album, is a psycho-electronic re-working of "The Wizard of Oz" that sounds like the soundtrack to the greatest LSD/freak-out/moog/synth/electronic musical that never was. This oddity is a hysterical and typical leftist/hippie commentary on the socioeconomic human condition of the average American in 1968, and uses the analogy of Dorothy taking a "trip" from Kansas for a brighter and better world where one can really be "free." Or over what rainbow? Now as to Dorothy, the rumors run rampant as to who played the part, it's credited to Suzy Jane Hokum, but people still insist that this is indeed Nancy Sinatra, and nobody seems to want to talk, it sure sounds like Nancy, and Nancy was doing rather odd things at the time, such as, "Some Velvet Morning," with Lee Hazelwood, this would fit right in place!  Who really is/was Mort Garson? What prompted the studio nerd to drop the baton and cook up works of monstrous vision using a revolutionary new instrument? What ever it was, he went at it with real zeal, way over the top, and would later do such masterpieces as, "Black Mass Lucifer," "The Unexplained--Ataraxia," "Z, Music for Sensuous Lovers," "Plantasia, Music to grow plants by" a whole series dedicated to the Zodiac, and " Electronic Hair Pieces". All of which I'll have up for bid this week.

Both the cover and vinyl are in very good+ condition, the cover has a hint of ringwear, the vinyl looks great, I just played The Wozard and it sounds just great too!!!

Well, wouldn't you know it, postal rates have now gone up, it's all messed up, the above rates are the best I can do, and I still take a loss, but I ship fast and very well packaged and I sometimes include extra goodies!!!!!
