review from All Music Guide:

"As is true of most Mosaic box sets, it would be very difficult to improve upon this reissue. After 22 years, altoist Johnny Hodges left Duke Ellington's orchestra in 1950 to try to make it on his own as a bandleader. Five years later, he returned to Ellington for the final 15 years of his life after having recorded the music heard on this six-LP set. Hodges's small group, a unit that emphasized blues, ballads, and riff-filled romps, was an extension of the Ellington band. Hodges had a big hit with "Castle Rock" (ironically a feature for tenor saxophonist Al Sears), but otherwise had trouble at the end making ends meet. Other notable sidemen on these enjoyable performances include trumpeters Emmett Berry and Harold "Shorty" Baker, trombonist Lawrence Brown, and tenors Flip Phillips, Ben Webster, and John Coltrane on one session (during which he unfortunately does not solo); the final session, from Sept. 8, 1955 (after Hodges had already returned to Ellington), also has trumpeter Clark Terry and pianist Billy Strayhorn. Most of this music had been long out of print at the time this 1989 box was released. A highly recommended gem of swinging jazz."

COMBINED SHIPPING: We love to combine shipping of similar items. Saves you money and can save us trouble.

We always invoice our buyers after close of auctions, but some items are too large for fixed rate mailers (or are traveling internationally) and when this is the case, we will get accurate costs from the Post Office before sending an invoice.

We try to be aware of buyers winning more than one auction (and this is easy if they close on the same day), but we are grateful if you notify us, after you win one auction, that you have another auction finishing a day or two later which you want combined with the first.

SALES TAX: We are a business in New York State and are required to collect 8.25% sales tax from buyers within New York State. Please do bear this in mind.

Buyers pay shipping and handling. In U.S.: Priority Mail. International buyers: Global Priority, Air Parcel or Air Letter, as appropriate.

For shipping of items in auctions in which the winning bid exceeds $200., delivery confirmation will be required.

Payment accepted using PayPal, Checks and Money Orders drawn on US banks, US currency.

Our bank charges us $5.00 for each international transaction: If using a money order from any country except the U.S., please expect to add $5.00 to the total to cover this charge.

So that we know what to expect: please confirm methods of payment other than PayPal by e-mail before sending. Money orders, checks, cashier’s checks and cash are sent to us by mail at the buyer’s risk.

Any forms of payment which require clearing by our bank will result in shipping being delayed until payment clears.
