Up for sale is a rare, guaranteed true first pressing mono copy of Freak Out! by The Mothers of Invention (Verve Records, V-5005-2). This historic 1966 debut double LP features the highly sought-after "Hot Spots" map advertisement printed directly inside the gatefold cover, definitively marking it as an early West Coast pressing. Both vinyl discs grade at a solid Very Good (VG); they show some light surface scuffs and cosmetic marks, but none of the blemishes are deep enough to affect play. It serves as an excellent, vibrant sounding player copy for any classic Frank Zappa enthusiast looking to experience the original, punchy mono mix.
The gatefold jacket presents beautifully on display, maintaining bright, clean artwork with only minimal vintage ring wear. Please note that there are splits along the top seams of the jacket, which is a common flaw for this heavy double-album release. Aside from the top seam wear, the spine remains readable, and the inner gatefold artwork is exceptionally crisp. The original paper sleeves are intact but are yellowing and have splits.
