Having formed in 1975 after Lemmy's ejection from Hawkwind for - depending on whether you ask him or the band - either being caught with drugs by customs or getting too much attention after voicing their 'Silver Machine' hit, it took a couple of years for Motorhead's debut album to reach the shelves. It only scaled the moderate heights of number 46 in the LP charts in 1977, but it's become a classic of the metal genre in time, from the piledriving 'Motorhead' itself, to that ode to the Hell's Angels 'Born To Lose' and 'White Line Fever' (no comment). A messy orgy of drugs, motorbikes, sex, f-you attitude and distortion - damn near perfect, really.
