Extremely Rare. If not unique this record can be one of literally only an handful in existence.
What you will be bidding on is a mis-pressed copy of Motorhead's very first single released in 1977.
Both sides of the record feature the same label, with the track listing "White Line Fever".
The record itself however features the correct tracks (Leaving Here on side 1 and White Line Fever on side 2).
History:
The band had originally recorded a version of Leaving Here for their debut album, but unsure of its commercial viability their record company United Artists, to whom they were still under contract, were refusing to issue it. Jake Riviera of Stiff Records, a casual acquaintance of Lemmy's, offered to release a new single from the band. No official deals were made, the band paid for the studio time whilst Riviera paid all other expenses. The single was scheduled for release with catalogue number BUY9 when United Artists intervened forcing Stiff to shelve its distribution.
The single was issued in France (on Skydog Records, MH001, black on white sleeve) and Sweden (on Blitz Records, MH001, purple on white sleeve) with only a few copies being imported into the UK. Stiff Records did eventually release a limited edition re-issue as part of a boxed set.
You are bidding on a mis-pressed copy of the original French release with black and white cover from 1977.
Vinyl Condition:
I would rate the vinyl as VG+ both sides play well, no scratches, no jumps and only minor crackle at the start of the tracks. The pop out middle has been removed.
Label Condition:
The label on side one has a white printing imperfection in the black field behind the track title and the whole label is rough to the touch.
Note the artist listed as "Motor Head" on the labels.
Cover Condition:
In all honestly the cover is in very poor condition with creases, folds, tears and water damage as can be seen in the photos. I suspect that as a mis-press, it's possible that it ended up in the trash at some point.
The record however is in very good condition and plays perfectly.
A rare record at the best of times... but as a mis-press!! I've never seen another listed and never seen any mention of one on any of the record collection sites either.
This is a rare opportunity to become the owner of an interesting and extremely rare (possibly unique) piece of Motorhead and Heavy Metal history.
