Posting to Russia: Yes, I do post to Russia. But delivery can take up to 4 to 6 weeks from the UK. So please be patient. I will submit a tracking number to the winning bidder, and when the packet arrives there it can be followed online using the Russian post website.

ALSO: I now apply the Ebay ‘2-day’ rule for non-payment to keep things moving – cash-flow is important for any small business. I will always keep my P&P prices as low as possible, and even after yet another Royal Mail price hike from April this year, I have NOT raised my prices and will never compromise on solid, safe packing that is invariably heavier than most you will get. Label Conditions: Both very clean, fresh and attractive with only quite light and faint spindle marks (hardly on side two) and no wear around the hole area.

Warps: Assume all records I offer have no warping of any significance and all tracking is easy and effortless and should play on all turntables and even ‘budget’ decks.

Weight of this Record: 131 grams. A very good solid weight for this time.

Rarity: Moderate, but condition is a major factor for this one, especially the cover and inner. The sleeve has a very large die-cut complex shapes window, it filled by a transparent screen print graphic. This window is seldom seen without burring, creasing and even tearing. The entire edging of this window on this cover is little short of perfect and looks superb. The only blemish is a tiny press dot on the screen print the owner said was present from new. This is by a distance the best cover I have seen for this album. As seen, it also includes the large shaped promotional sticker on the front, this also in lovely condition and never picked at or removed. The thin paper lyric inner sleeve is unsplit, that also hard to find. Finally, the record itself plays superbly with little unwanted. Although a quite popular album, fewer survive without major issues.

Brief Info: A popular album that peaked at No 7 in the UK album chart. One lavishly packed here also, the American cover was very different. Highly regarded and successful with the band entering their peak, it includes the singles ‘All the Way from Memphis’ and ‘Honaloochie Boogie’. This a lovely UK original with an impressive cover as seen. Few seem to survive without damage or issues to that impressive large cut-out front window. A copy fans and collectors are sure to enjoy.

Cover Grade and Format: EXCELLENT(+): and arguably better for one so prone to damage. An unlaminated gatefold format with matt, smooth surfaces. The front has a very large complex shaped die-cut window, this filled with a transparent screen print plastic sheet with a roman emperor bust graphic. Includes the promotional large shaped front sticker and storage for record via the centrefold. Printed and made in England by Shorewood, also includes the lyric inner sleeve as seen.

Cover Front: A lavish Shorewood cover and clearly prone to wear and especially damage which this pretty much avoided. The only blemish is a small press mark dot on the plastic sheet a little above the roman figure’s right eye. That apart, this front is fantastic with little else to fault, and that is very unusual to state. The entire perimeter of the shaped cut-out area is immaculate, totally devoid of creasing, burring, tears, rubbing or damage. The plastic sheet, made to look like pop-art, is clear and fresh, the reverse side has complex raised surfaces on the dotted area. Next the sticker: this is little short of immaculate as seen with practically nothing to fault. That leaves the surrounding card area, this again is impressively clean with minimal blemishes or creasing. Complex and fragile, a really lovely piece of vintage art, a front that will prove immensely difficult to find better, thge tiny press mark on the plastic the only blemish of note.

Cover Back: A little tone spotting on the spine edge but little else to fault bar the merest faint handling traces here-and-there. Hardly creased or rubbed with no ring wear, this back also sets a high standard.

Cover Inner Gatefold: The plastic artwork sheet is secured under a left fold flap which is perfect. The the inside artwork is fantastic with practically nothing to fault. Entrance of the record is into the right side via the central area. Quite unusually, the right card is set back, so gripping the record is made easier. There is no damage or wear to the spine and entrance area, again more unusual on thin card.

Top Edges: Both flat, straight and flush with barely any hint of wear.

Bottom Edges: A hint or rubbing to the back folded edge, almost the least to be expected to a fragile storage edge. The much thinner front edge has a hint of patchy thickening here-and-there (this being critical), but little else.

Right Edge(s), and Type: Both edges are closed and are superb again with little to fault.

Spine and Text: Little short of immaculate, also bear in mind, this spine is single thickness card and fragile. Solid, straight with no compression and folded square, so the edges meet up very closely together and parallel. All text is perfect and unworn, also perfectly centred. Such detail mean the difference between average and exceptional.

Corners: Any tip rubs are tiny and light, excellent shape retained with no bashes, any tip creases tiny and very light.

Cover Summary: Another piece of classic rock album art, this the least aged, damaged and most attractive I have seen for many years. A very strong all-round example of this very fragile 1970’s cover, one that will prove very difficult to find much better. This beautiful item should please many, if not most collectors.

The Inner Sleeve: EXCELLENT(+): again delicate being made with very thin paper which was not lined. The song lyrics printed both sides. Slight darkening of the paper with a little single corner creasing. More unusually, all edges are fully intact, unsplit with no repairs.

Vinyl Condition/Visual Grading: EXCELLENT(+): a very fine visual copy that is very clean with equally fine shine and solidly pressed. A copy with minimal plays on all the evidence with any surface trace marks very fine, light and faint as seen critically under bright angled light. These are mostly wispy, even finer than hairlines, there are no penetrating stylus scratches and the record plays clean and very impressively. Visually a super record that should please many collectors.

Album Played For Grading: Yes. [I play ALL records I offer before submitting to Ebay, also the record is played in its entirety unless clearly stated otherwise. I do NOT play snippets or joining grooves to check for sound quality and quietness – I play from the beginning to end via clinically revealing B&W speakers that include the legendary tweeter from their awesome Nautilus range that reveals every blemish or minuscule sound present on any record.]

Sound Quality and Audio Grading: This quality album plays even above it’s high visual grading with hardly anything to fault. Offering strong, distortion-free sound, all frequencies are sharp and clear – sound quality is very high with a wide dynamic range and very detailed sound. Any surface sounds are minimal indeed and this is an exceptional clean pressing with no tracking issues*. Few copies will outperform this early first issue significantly I feel sure. Both channels are clean and sharp, I am certain this record has been played very lightly and has been generally well stored and carefully handled, almost certainly in a non-smoking environment. Nothing of any note spoilt my pleasure when play-grading this wonderful record. It will prove very difficult to find significantly better and can be strongly recommended.

* As played-graded on a high-end Linn LP12 Sondek turntable with Ittok Mk II arm and Ortofon Quintet Black moving coil cartridge tracking at 2.2 grams.

The record’s cover will be placed within a BRAND NEW soft protective sleeve and the actual record will be professionally cleaned on my new VPI-17 Pro vacuum system to give ultimate clean grooves and playing surfaces and the best possible looks and ultimate sound quality. You will NOT get tired, dull looking, dust infested records inside worn and foggy covers with tatty inners from this seller and that’s a promise and guarantee. All records are posted in professional boxes (NOT Mailers, these do not offer any real protection). The record(s) are REMOVED from their main cover to avoid edge splits and placed within a brand new polylined inner. The record’s original inner will be included if available. The boxes are then reinforced with at least TWO, ULTRA THICK stiffeners for maximum extra protection – these are FOUR TIMES thicker than commercial stiffeners and are custom-made for oneadayrecords. SOME GENERAL GUIDES TO WEAR AND CONDITIONS TO HELP YOU DECIDE

My Use of Description Terminology: Surface Marks = Superficial, usually light marks, hairlines or light scuffs that rarely sound. Scratch = a needle mark that goes below the record’s surface, some will sound, some will not, my play-grade will inform. Original = a record that has been pressed with the first label design which does NOT necessarily mean a very first pressed record. First Pressing = A record that I believe or know to be a genuine very first pressed record. I do not claim to always know for sure, and that’s why I state the stamper and matrix numbers if at all possible, for those who claim to know what they all mean, the information is there for the collector to decide. I prefer to use terms like ‘Early Copy’ rather than ‘First Pressing’ if I am not totally sure. Surface Sound = Mild, light sound, usually light crackle or similar. Distortion = Break up of the actual sound caused by groove wear or damage from a chipped stylus – the most undesirable form of unwanted sound, vintage mono records were the most prone to this happening but not exclusively so. The symptoms of distortion are high frequency clipping, moderate constant crackle or an echo type sound quality. Violin, piano and vocals are most prone to groove-wear distortion. Feathering = Fraying or softening of the entry edge of a cover. Covers with feathered entrance edges are more likely to have had the actual record inserted and removed more than a non-feathered, sharp-edged cover which are always far more attractive. Set Off, actually a printer’s term for dark ink leaving mild residue on pale or white ink when rested upon. e.g. when a gatefold cover has black ink closed against white, this can leave some black residue on the pale area – this is mostly unavoidable or course.

The Argument for Vinyl Original sound and mix (mono mixes are rarely available on CD), high quality sound on clean copies (played on a hi-end dedicated analogue system – breathtaking sound!), beautiful, large format covers, artwork, inserts and even full size posters etc; huge investment potential, and the pleasure of owning ‘the real thing’.
