Description

MOUNTAIN - Climbing - UK Bell 1970 LP A1/B1

Time to sell more of my vinyl collection - some classical, some jazz, some pop, rock, folk & psych. I know it won't be appreciated by my daughter or the next generation, so I'm shifting it myself and hope I find good homes for it. Initially I am just picking at random from duplicates, stuff I have on CD and items unplayed for ages so there should be a decent mix. You never know, there might just be something to suit your taste.

This listing is for an original UK pressing of Mountain's Mountain Climbing

Mountain -
Climbing
UK Bell label
1970
Cat Number: SBLL 133 matrix numbers A1 / B1
Mode: Stereo

The Album
Great album from West Pappalardi & co. Mine since new - I bought it in Exeter in 1970 and played it quite a lot back then, but very little in the past 40 years. It's a first UK pressing with first matrix numbers. It does have some background crackling noticeable in quiet bits (though it says on the cover 'this record was made to be played loud').

Condition:
Cover:  Single front-laminated sleeve is in nice condition given that it's over 40 years old. It has minor ring wear and laminate creasing, but it is strong and intact and the spine text is still clearly legible. The unlaminated rear is showing signs of wear. No tears or writing but there's a sticker .. I put a small transfer of a parrot (from a Scots porridge oats pack I think) on the rear cover, and it's still there.
Labels: Bell labels bright and clean. Just a few spindle marks. No writing or stickers, very nice.
Vinyl: Vinyl has some light hairline scrapes, but no nasty marks or scratches. There is however some background crackling which is noticeable in quiet numbers - looking at it now, the tone arm is not tracking straight but has a little sway - I reckon that the hole in the middle may be marginally off centre. Overall it probably falls short of VG so I'll minus it

Overall:
A decent sleeve housing a playable copy of this album - I'd guess that this might be professionally graded at (cover / vinyl) VG / VG-

Terms:
Please note that I try to test-play at least part of each record before listing, but do not have time to play fully in all cases. I played a lot of this one, but if you do discover a problem which I might have missed, please do not hesitate to contact me and I will do all I can to rectify the situation.

Postage:
Royal Mail are 'restructuring' prices from April 2013. Not necessarily all bad news, it depends what you buy - a single LP posted to UK or Europe is now more expensive, but within UK revised weight ranges might allow up to 4 LPs to be posted for the same cost as one. Rest of world prices seem to have reduced slightly. Approximate prices for normal postage - UK £3.35 for up to 1kg (could be up to 4 LPs), Europe £5.30 + £1.80 each additional, Rest of world £7.55 + £2.70 each additional item - these amounts include estimated actual Royal Mail cost for first class or air mail, plus 35p for cost of packaging material (a brand new custom mailer with stiffener).
Losses: Royal Mail are also reducing maximum compensation to £20 unless items are signed-for. Overseas purchasers - if your purchase is well over £20, a signed for service must be selected when paying as I will not assume the extra risk and normal airmail will only be covered for £20. Compensation on signed-for shipments is up to £50.

I'm happy to hold records for a short while if you wish to bid on more and combine shipment.

These records are all from my personal collection built up over almost 50 years. Some were bought new, others pre-owned so condition will vary. My attempt at grading is based on Record Collector's grading system. Please therefore read and understand the detailed description which is my honest personal assessment - and I guess you can always check how good or bad that is by checking my feedback. Questions welcome if anything is unclear. Happy bidding.
