Cover: Unlaminated 1st pressing gatefold cover. No writings, doodles or seam splits. Still has the inner plastic 'novelty' inner plastic sleeve - see photo - with the original foam edge! This is almost impossible to find in nice condition. Rates as Excellent+ overall for its age.

Labels:Near Mint.

Vinyl: Looks Excellent. Play tested.

Please note that all first pressings of this LP suffer from the same fault - that's how you can tell it's a genuine 1st pressing. Because the record came in a novelty 'plastic' inner sleeve known as the 'av/pak' packaging concept, (attached to the inside of the gatefold) with a foam strip stuck to the edge of the plastic, the outer rim of one side or other on all 1st pressing vinyls absorbed some of the foam's adhesive residue.

This defect affected Side 1 of this particular LP - Side 2 is largely unaffacted. This means that the first minute or so of all 1st pressings of this LP have a loud clicking sound on one side or other. Most buyers returned their 1st pressings due to this fault - making these 1st pressings incredibly rare.

The length of the clicking varies with the degree to which the foam residue leaked into the vinyl. This one lasts about 1 minute on track 1 Side 1 - but has some lighter clicking throughout the whole of this track. The rest of Side 1 then settles down and plays VG with only the regular light crackle/pops. Side 2 plays VG+ to Excellent.

A good professional clean will probably improve the sound but is unlikely to remove the regular defect as others who have owned a 1st pressing of this LP will be able to testify.

Gradings.......

Mint - The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality.

Excellent - The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality.

Very Good - The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratches.

Good - The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and more significant scratches.

Fair - The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise, it may even jump.

Poor - The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc

Bad - The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection filler.
