I am not a trader or record shop. I am music fan who has collected vinyl records over many years and over the coming days/weeks I will be offering rare, and much sought after vinyl records including Prog Rock, Blues, Folk, etc from collectible labels such as Pink Island, Blue Horizon, Deram/Decca, Atlantic plum, Vertigo swirl, Chess etc etc..

Original 1959 first mono pressing – this LP was not released on stereo.

This LP (vinyl) is in truly EXCELLENT CONDITION++ and is genuinely a reluctant sale. (If I could list only the vinyl of this LP as ‘mint’, believe me I would!)

PLEASE NOTE!

Record Collector 2004 edition states the first letters of the catalogue number for this LP as ‘LJZ’…It is a misprint, as you will see by the images. Please note by the images on sleeve and labels the correct catalogue number for this LP begins with ‘LTZ’ and NOT ‘LJZ’, as listed in RC 2004 ed. (even they get it wrong!)

This is a very rare blues LP by the incomparable Muddy Waters and this is a beautiful example of this highly sought LP. If you’re looking at this sublime LP featuring some of the most unforgettable blues songs ever written, ‘Honey Bee’, ‘I Just Want To Make Love To You’, ‘Hoochie Coochie’, ‘Louisiana Blues’ et al… then it’s likely you are already aware of how brilliant and influential these songs have been down the years. This LP is highly collectible, especially in this condition! This UK pressing on the rare London Jazz Series label is virtually pristine and I have never seen another pressing that’s over 50yrs old which sounds and looks totally unplayed. There is absolutely no groove-wear, no pops, no clicks, no ‘breakfast frying’, no sticks, no jumps…etc..….It is absolutely outstanding!! Even taking the vinyl out of the inner sleeve seemed like that was the only time the actual vinyl has seen daylight! When you place this LP on your deck and hear the superb audio quality you too will be astounded how a 50yr old LP can stand the test of time!

Discerning and serious blues collectors, and particularly Muddy Waters devotee’s, know that to have this LP on this original London 'Jazz Series' label in their collection is a ‘must’, and an indispensable addition to their catalogue.

Record Grading

Before I offer for sale I play grade to check my LP’s and I have just played both sides on an upmarket deck.

There is truly only one way to describe the vinyl of this LP – near mint! – The winning bidder will not only be thrilled but also amazed at the quality of the vinyl! Remember and please bear in mind that this original pressing is over 50yrs old!

The vinyl is gleaming! And I doubt if you will ever again find this vinyl in as stunning and beautiful condition!!

As always, I am being genuine and highly critical, but honest in my evaluation of the LP; You’d be thinking I’m doing myself an injustice with my description but I treat others the way I wish to be treated myself so I am describing it to the best of my ability. (Also, I have not attempted to clean the record in case of damage to the LP and because it’s in such outstanding condition it doesn’t require any object or cleaning agent applied, in fact the only implement this LP requires is a stylus!)

LP Cover

Front laminate flip-back single sleeve – unfortunately there is small tear about 1inch square on the top of the cover, and one crease along the laminate from the tear across to the edge of the sleeve approx 3in down from the top. The laminate is however still glued and intact with no peeling or writing/ink marks.

The rear of the sleeve is clean and bright with no unwanted ink or any other unsightly blemishes. (see images).

Even though the 1inch tear would be considered a serious blemish by many discerning collectors, weighing up the rarity, collectibilty, and the superb, almost ‘mint’ vinyl condition, the LP remains undoubtedly a much prized and highly valuable blues and will increase in price.

Absolutely immaculate! As ‘new’ and over 50yrs old!… Both labels truly stunning and unmarked (see images)

Inner Sleeve

Absolutely immaculate! The original inner sleeve has absolutely no creases and the print easily readable. Top quality thick paper of poly-lined inner sleeve – ‘care of record’ print. ‘British and foreign patents pending’ and, ‘Made in Great Britain’ print.  Excellent++ (see image)
