The Jazz and Classical Music Society is an organization started in 1955 by John Lewis and Gunther Schuller (it was originally called the Modern Jazz Society) to present authoritative and exemplary concert performances of rarely heard music. The emphasis was placed on contemporary music, including that written by composers in the jazz field who would not otherwise have an opportunity for their less conventional work to be presented under concert conditions. The aims of the Society were, and are, of a nature designed to bring together musicians in both the "classical" and jazz fields. John Lewis, J.J. Johnson and Jimmy Giuffre each contribute a composition. Soloists on include: Miles Davis, J.J. Johnson, Joe Wilder. • Due to the mail theft epidemic in the Italian post office system, we no longer normally ship to addresses in Italy. Exceptions can be made for buyers willing to pay for Priority Mail, which is safer but much more expensive than First Class. Priority Mail can also be tracked.
