review from a fan.....These guys had a very clear idea about the kind of music they wanted to play, and they certainly stuck to their guns. Or rather, their battle axe.

Battleaxe are one of those bands whose songs just scream "80's" at every note. This shows clearly on their debut album, Burn This Town, which sports a good number of fast, catchy riffs, reminiscent of the early Saxon albums, rasping hard rock vocals and some truly excellent drum lines, all evenly distributed over ten tracks. One of the strongest points of this album is probably the fact that it never ceases to be interesting throughout its length, in spite of there being very little variation between each song: the relatively short average track length (roughly 3:30) and a finely balanced mix of heaviness and upbeat atmosphere more than make up for the lack of change in mood, tempo and  attitude. The production is remarkable considering the year of release: every instrument is easily identifiable, and the guitar somehow manages to never overpower the vocals. Sadly, the dynamics are quite predictable (no noticeable volume changes throughout the whole album), but this album having been released by a newborn label (Music For Nations), we expect the budget available to have been quite limited.

The main problem with this release is probably the same "problem" (though a fan would likely class it as a "characteristic" or even a quality, rather than a flaw) that has been one of the trademarks for such Rock/Metal monsters as AC/DC and Motorhead: they never allowed themselves to get sidetracked a little, simply plunging straight down their set path into a steaming cauldron of red hot Heavy Metal. This results in a predictability which may tire a casual listener or someone who is not fond of their type of sound.

In conclusion, Burn This Town did not add anything new to the already flourishing 80's metal scene, but it definitely succeeded at offering an excellent specimen of pure, untamed Heavy Metal, that is sure to delight the ears of any fan of the 80's British Metal scene.

CONDITION Details:

• The LP jacket is in Near Mint minus condition!

• The jacket has NO seam splits - it is completely intact and just shows some shelf wear primarily along the seams and corners.
  

• The jacket has NO drill holes or saw marks of any kind, but does have the remains of a price sticker at the top, front, right corner (see picture).
  

• There is NO hand writing on the front or back of the jacket.

• The cover has clean and sharp colors - see pictures with this listing for more detail. 

• The LP is in NEAR MINT minus condition!
  

• The LP retains much of the original gloss and sheen!
  

• The record has NO visible marks that we could discern. Perhaps a very light spider mark or two. We play tested the LP on our audio system and it performed in Near Mint minus condition - no noises / sounds that detracted from the performances in any significant way. 
  

• There are NO significant spindle marks on the record labels.

• As for any record, we recommend a thorough cleaning before playing!

A Short Note About LP GRADING -

• Mint = Only used for sealed items.
• Near Mint = Virtually flawless in every way.
• Near Mint Minus = Item has some minor imperfections, some audible.
• Excellent = Item obviously played and enjoyed with some noise.
