Description
This later, but still elusive, single by Scotland’s My Dear Watson features the piano stylings of one Elton John on both sides. This is “Have You Seen Your Saviour” b/w “White Line Road” on the UK DJM label from 1970. That’s right, Elton plays on both sides of this rare single, and sings too (from what I've read), and like all the other My Dear Watson singles, neither song has been comped. That’s a shame too, because “Have You Seen Your Saviour” is a catchy slice of easy early 70’s AM pop, riding a lazy summery shuffling rhythm, while “White Line Road” is a groovy slice of psychedelic country rock that sounds like someone recorded the Monkees “Auntie’s Municipal Court” overtop of Harry Nilsson’s “The Most Beautiful World in the World.” Would’ve fit nicely on Elton’s “Tumbleweed Connection”, which hit stores the following year. How Sir Elton ended up with these Scots is a mystery, but then again, he also did session work for the British budget record label equivalent of Ronco or K-Tel, so I guess anything’s possible. Monstrously rare, and if you dig this one, check out the other equally elusive My Dear Watson single I also have up for bid. Take a look at the original ad for this single too below (not included with single). Original 1970 pressing on the UK DJM label. Plays VG+.
