Description

Opportunity for a bargain, this is an original 1994 pressing of (in my opinion) Madonna's most underrated album-one of her career bests.  This is an original German/Alsdorf pressing owned by me since (roughly) 1996.
I am selling this album as an ideal play copy of this rare 90's pressing.  It was second-hand when I bought it in the mid-90s and has been used sparingly as a play copy.  It is not mint and has been used (but always with care).  I am downsizing and is the only reason I am selling it.  The album is in exactly the same condition as from when I bought it but it does have blemishes which you would associate with a second hand LP and I will detail those blemishes below.  The record plays through from start to finish with no skips or pops but there is light surface noise and clicks (mostly on side 2) I will detail below.
Please note I am an extremely conservative grader of LPs and prefer to be detailed about condition rather than give arbitrary grades which often conceal the defects record buyers actually want to know about.  I do not grade any played record (even a mint one) above very good condition as I think it is dishonest.
Cover: Fair condition.  It is in exactly the same condition as from when I bought it second-hand and has been kept in a plastic sleeve since the mid-90s.  The cover has no rips or splits but does have creasing: on the front cover there is a thin horizontal crease across the top right hand side of the sleeve from the first "n" of "Madonna" to the sleeve edge, a pressure crease in the middle of the sleeve near Madonna's elbow, a crease on the "e" of "Bedtime" on the cover.  There is also some rubbing and marks I have tried to photograph and some light discolouration on the top right edge.  There is also a light indentation of the price on the cover but this has faded over the years.  On the inside of the gatefold there is also a crease near the sleeve opening.  On the back cover, there is some light creasing and edgewear to the corners and rubbings mostly near the track listing, as photographed.  I am being really specific here but to be completely honest, in a plastic sleeve (provided), these blemishes are not noticeable because the cover is matt card.  The iconic images of Madonna on the front and back cover are clear, bright and lovely.  This is a subjective thing however, and I appreciate this; the cover is essentially that of a second hand, nearly 30 year old LP.
Inner Sleeve: As new and completely untorn.  This copy is an ideal copy to buy if you have a copy of this album but it has a torn inner sleeve.  The paper is the nasty, thin scratchy paper WB used for all their LPs back then-exactly the same as for Erotica if you own the original press of that album.  It creases just by looking at it and it does have "thumb and finger" creases all of which were there when I bought it but many were probably there from new.  No used copy of this album would be free of these creases but this sleeve is not torn which is very common for this album.
Disc: In exactly the same condition as from when I bought it and has always been stored in a plastic sleeve.  I have played it through for this listing.  The album was second hand when I bought it and as such has marks, scuffs and hairlines.  It play through from start to finish with no pops or skips but there are some little ticks and clicks, mostly on side 2.  Side 1: Plays through near perfect.  No pops.  I noticed one little click in the fade out of Inside of Me but this might actually have been some dust (the record has not been cleaned for at least 10 years).  Please note, the clicks on "I'd Rather Be Your Lover" are actually part of the recording of the song and can be heard on any digital version.  There are some inaudible surface bumps on the vinyl surface on this track.  They are inaudible on my turntable.  Side 2: There are some occasional clicks on the track Human Nature (absolutely not pops) and at the very end of Human Nature in the fade-out and opening second of Forbidden Love, there are some light ticks caused by a small manufacturing mark.  Side 2 does have ticks and clicks on most tracks, usually in the quieter parts but they are more like ambient vinyl surface noise.  There are some ticks and clicks at the start and end of Forbidden Love, Love Tried to Welcome Me and during the track Sanctuary, for example but they are not pops. These little ticks have never bothered me but of course this is a subjective thing.
This album really is an ideal play copy.  The cover blemishes are not particularly noticeable in a plastic sleeve and the little clicks and ticks noted above are not distracting.  I do realise how subjective this is so if this is something which is going to bother you, please don't bid on it.  The album is not in mint and never was.  It does have marks, hairlines etc. but this is an ideal copy for someone collecting Madonna's original pressings on a budget.  I really hope it goes to a Madonna loving home.
This is a perfectly respectable, second-hand copy of this excellent 90's album.  UK bidders only unless using the GSP.  Thanks!
