Description

Recently had this graded at my local record shop, they said VG+ for record (slight scuffs noted from movement of the record in the sleeve) and VG+ to Near Mint for the sleeve, noting slight crease at one corner.

Now time for me to downsize and I have several other Madonna records for sale - I will combine postage.

ABOUT THIS ITEM

The Ultimate 1983 Madonna Holy Grail: True First Pressing "Sunglasses" Sleeve

An absolute museum-grade piece of pop royalty history: the genuine, original 1983 U.S. First Pressing 12" vinyl single of Madonna’s breakout anthem, "Lucky Star" (featuring the Full Length Version).

CRITICAL ARCHIVAL NOTE: This is the legendary, ultra-rare "Sunglasses Sleeve" First Edition (Sire Records - Catalog: 0-20149). It was quickly pulled and reissued in early 1984 with the identical catalog number but completely different artwork (the "TV Screen" sleeve). This genuine 1983 debut run was pressed in incredibly low numbers, making it one of the absolute rarest and most sought-after commercial Madonna records in existence.

THE TRACKS:

Side A: Lucky Star (Full Length Version - 5:30)

Side B: I Know It (Album Version - 3:41)

In 1983, Madonna was just beginning to conquer the dance charts. To promote "Lucky Star," Sire Records released this initial 12" featuring a gorgeous, stylized close-up portrait of Madonna wearing her trademark 80s sunglasses. Before the single could achieve massive radio rotation, the label shifted promotional strategies, retiring this beautiful sleeve layout permanently in favor of the 1984 "TV Screen" reissue.

Over the last 40+ years, the delicate cardboard of this 1983 release has become nearly impossible to find without severe ring wear, heavy seam splits, or edge scuffing. This specific copy is a monumental exception: the vinyl is in immaculate Near Mint [NM] condition, retaining its glorious factory gloss, while the fragile cover stands beautifully at Excellent to Near Mint [EX/NM]. It is a investment-grade, blue-chip time capsule ready for the most prestigious pop archive.

CONDITION

Vinyl Status: NEAR MINT [NM]. Beautiful, bright, and pristine wax with full original luster. Visually spectacular and plays flawlessly.

Sleeve/Cover: EXCELLENT [EX]. A spectacular survivor. The colors are crisp and vibrant, the spine is completely firm and legible, and there are no nasty seam splits or heavy creases. Extremely minor, honest shelf wear.

Thanks for looking!
