"These demos were recorded in 1981 while Madonna was under contract with Gotham management.
Gotham management wanted her to be the next Pat Benatar, while she was of the opinion that times had changed in view of the funky dance records being played by radio stations all over the country. Shortly after recording these demos, Madonna split up with Gotham management due to these musical differences.
After splitting with Gotham management, Madonna began recording these demos whith fellow songwriter Steve Bray. It were these demos which finally got her her first recording contract. While all of these songs made it into her first record, these demo versions are clearly different, featuring different/additional vocals and keyboard lines.
