The Makers Of The Dead Travel Fast were an Australian band active throughout the early 1980s. The band consisted of:

• Peter Richardson (piano, keyboards)
• Greg Addison (guitar)
• Steve Couri
• Tim Schultz (saxophone, bongos)
• Shane Fahey (synthesizer, loops)

The band released two LPs; Vessels in 1981, and Zoom Vs. Man in 1983. A retrospective, G'arage D'Or, was released on the Extreme label in 1991.

After months of meticulous sound crafting in the M Squared front room and only occasionally surfacing for food and air, The Makers of the Dead Travel Fast finally emerged with "The Vessels".

Using piano, synth, guitar, saxophone, percussion and anything they could find, the band delivered this genre busting tome, full of lush / jarring instrumentals. Packaged in a glorious full colour cover by artist and band member Tim Schultz, "The Vessels" was an immediate critical success and sold enough copies to warrant a second pressing. David Bullock played percussion for this release.

With an eerie haunting simplicity The Makers Of The Dead Travel Fast’s sound was an unobvious take on post punk angularity. Originally active through 1979-1983, during Sydney’s golden age of DIY underground culture. Part of the legendary M squared label roster, they reformed last year to help launch a retrospective box-set Pardon me for barking in like this on the label released by German label VOD, and have since being writing and recording new material. CONDITION:

SLEEVE – VG+++, no splits or tears; some ring wear to laminate, front and back, but not severe.

RECORD – VG+++ to EX-; originally was very noisy even though it looks clean and glossy. After cleaning with a Disco Antistat device, the sound is rich and full and the surface noise minimal (mostly between tracks, possibly from stylus-drops). Labels are unmarked but with plenty of spindle marks. This record was played a lot but looked after.

M = Mint

Must be in perfect condition with no audible or visible defects whatsoever. The record and cover/sleeve should be exactly as brand new.

NM = Near Mint

Almost mint but has one or two minor visible marks on the cover/sleeve or surface with sound quality remaining perfect.

EX = Excellent

Not quite perfect. There may a slight chance of minor deterioration in sound quality. The cover/sleeve may show slight wear.

VG = Very Good

The surface and cover/sleeve shows visible signs of wear due to the fact that it has been played on a regular basis. There will be some audible surface noise but it will not effect the listening experience.

G = Good

The sound quality has deteriorated due to having been played often. The cover/sleeve and surface will show considerable signs of wear and tear with some possible damage.

F = Fair

Has been neglected, but is still playable. There will be major audible defects such as loud clicks or jumping. The cover/sleeve maybe badly damaged.

P = Poor

Technically playable, but with serious deterioration in condition and sound quality. The cover/sleeve will be badly damaged.

VP = Very Poor

In terrible condition and absolutely unplayable. Would only be of use as a last resort to complete a collection.
