********************************* A wonderful and now decidedly RARE Aussie pressing of this fisrt of two offerings by Manfred Mann Chapter Three, an experimental jazz-psych-prog rock reaction following the end of the 60’s hit factory of the original Manfred Mann.
Without doubt there is some very cool and some stunning material here … definitely not your usual jazz-pop-rock fusion at all as it rises well above that and rests somewhere above and beyond in a pretty unique space. Regarded as a top class bit of work with interesting sax and bass wrapt around unusual vocals that really makes for something quite different and totally enjoyable…. Very catchy fusion that’s a bit unlike anything else and why others rate this as a real gem that captures Manfred at his jazziest and at his very best……proto-prog to some degree even … heavy in parts bridged with horns and reeds resulting in a consistently good sound that is difficult not to like even you’re a straight-out prog-rock buff.
In a nutshell a great (mostly) jazz-rock album with terrific progressive and psychedelic rock moments scattered throughout.
Rarely seen on this yellow Fontana label and a beaut find for collectors.

Vinyl - play-tested completely both sides : Looks and plays superbly with a brilliant clean and crisp sound. Barely a mark. Glorious shine. A couple of faint / very light pops noticeable in the quietest parts which are sparse in anycase. A real beauty and rated EX+ in the main … other parts are Near Mint.
Labels : Clean. No spindle marks.
Sleeve : original laminated gatefold outer cover in great condition. No splits. No writing. No marks. No creasing. Some minor peeling at lower edge which is acceptable considering it’s 40+ year age. The spine is perfect as is the inner cover.
