Third release on Philip’s “Prog” label Vertigo. I guess that this is Volume Three after their incarnations with Paul Jones then Mike D’Abo. Releasded in November 1969. Lots of jazzy brass from the likes of Harold Becket and Nick Evans who was on Soft Machine Third and on BB Blunders Sticky Living. I’m not alone in spotting a Dr. John influence with the vocals on “Devil Woman”.  (No connection with Cliff Richards.)

“Mister you’re a better man than I” written by the Hugg brothers had been recorded some years earlier by The Yardbirds. That’s enough chat now on with main event....

CONDITION.

The sleeve is in good condition*. Some edge wear and ring wear showing on the back. . I’ve included a few photos which should make this clear.

 The Inner Sleeve is the correct Vertigo Swirl type. It has a couple of small tears and has yellowed over the intervening 45 years.

The Vinyl is in excellent condition*.

The sound quality is excellent.

Good News Everyone! You can check out the quality on the attached eCommerce Player. (In fact my request/demand is that you listen before placing any bid.) It’s all there from the stylus touching down and hitting the groove, side a run out, side b touchdown to run out.

(This album recorded on my Linn Sondek turntable using “Audacity”, exported as a 256  kbps MP3 file and uploaded into eCommerce Player. No editing whatsoever just a pause as I turned the disc over. It's all there from the moment the stylus touches down.)

Record Collector Magazine's Grading Guide:

MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and / or creasing.

VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.

FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and / or defaced.

POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.
