Quite rare West Coast/hippy sounds on private label.

Underground Sounds says:

"Los Angeles folk with great, bluesy backporch hippie sounds.
funny bad vocals, Mike Deasy produced. Ry Cooder and Goldenrod help out."

Borderline has the following review:

"This album is an an interesting example of West Coast rock with nice guitars, although the vocals could have been better. It is also an extremely rare private pressing, with Hogfat being "a Division of the Society for the Naturalization of Animals". Scheff, French and Benay were previously in Goldenrod, Cooder in the Rising Sons and Captain Beefheart's Magic Band.

One of the first examples of artists "going (back) to the country". The liner notes are explicit: "So I'm off to the mountains, the sea, the earth of nature. I leave you my songs and my wealth of insights of THE SCENE. They are of some use to the narrow minded youth of tomorrow and some use to the narrow minded aged of yesterday. To me they are of no use any longer... The meaning to my life is to be found other than drugs/words/sex/money. Where? the glimpse I've had tells me to move: physically. So my move: where words are few, where money is not important, where drugs are surpassed by environment, where sex is children and love". "
