Description

An original STEREO 1st UK CBS Press from 1962. First released in 1960 in the USA - CBS did not have pressing plant in the UK until 1964 so were reliant on assistance from other companies for the UK market. So, 1st copies on CBS I would estimate are from 1962. And for this pressing CBS were reliant on Philips to actually press the record. So it's a CBS label and a Philips pressing. How do we know it is Philips? Because the deadwax is 100% Phillips "V420" is exhibiting and sides are 1L/2L & not A/B. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original 1st issue <STEREO> cover with exposed flipbacks. Remember, in the early 60's STEREO was an extremely niche format - and these copies are, consequently, hard to track down these days. Matrix 1/1. This is an early CBS textured label c.1962. We also have the original white generic inner. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex-) In fantastic shape and has only seen reasonably light use - particularly given the vintage. Under close inspection I can only make out a couple of light marks per side - nothing heavy or sinister looking. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveal a mostly EXCELLENT level of playback. Plays through really clean. Precious little background observable. A solid player which has been carefully looked after. Expect nothing more than a few crackles in one isolated spot per side. An absolute beaut for the vintage. Love it!
Cover (Ex) I mean - WOW! Can you seriously believe this is early 60's! But it is a genuine early copy and it is in truly remarkable condition. Usually these covers surface looking pretty tired - to say the least! But this copy is in unbelievable condition. The front cover is perfectly flat and and shiny without a single crease! Look at the rear - ha amazing! Hardly a whiff of ageing and all flipbacks are perfectly intact and secure. The spine is 100% intact. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity. FINAL UPGRADE!
