Description

The Marvelettes
You're my remedy // A little bit of sympathy
$tateside SS 334
Released Sept 1964
~ Genuine Excellent+ Copy ~

Despite giving Motown their first No1, The Marvelettes were always overshadowed by the more pop orientated acts, such as the Supremes. They often struggled to get quality material to record - but not so with this release

Checkout these songwriting credits, a Smokey A side coupled with a Holland/Dozier/Hester (who?) flip

You're my remedy  has the girls, now down to three and with Wanda on lead, in typical jaunty Motown style with Smokey's witty lyrics shining through. A little bit of sympathy  was probably recorded before H-D-H devoted themselves to the Tops and Supremes, but the track shows their typical trademarks, particularly that metallic vibraphone

Listen to clip from A side       Listen to clip from B side

Apart from a smudge mark on the B side label (runs from the '4' of '45' to 'SYM' of 'SYMPATHY') this disc is in stonking condition. Flat as a pancake and plays superbly - one of the quietest singles I've ever known
