Description
Max Roach 4 Plays Charlie Parker. Condition is "Used". Shipped with USPS Media Mail. 1945...and Max Roach had just turned 20 and was already considereda veteran on the street. He had after all moved from his high school graduation onto the same bandstand with Charlie Parker in '42. The music was bop: a revoly against the over-arranged, stereotyped band music.Bop's leader, and the fountainhead of it's inspiration, was Charlir Parker. The startling ways he applied new harmonic and rhythmic ideas to the blues and the standards everyone played made them new compositions from the ground up. Max perfected this technique, and this coupled with his almost uncanny knack of anticipating what the soloist would do, made him the top drummer in modern jazz. Here he is joined by Kenny Dorham, Hank Mobley and Nelson Boyd. Selections include; Yardbird Suite, Confimation, Ko -ko, Billies Bounce, Apres-Vous and Parker's Mood. The record is in near perfect condition and the cover is very good plus. (See photos).
