Mc5 Kick Out Jams uncensored US Butterfly Rarest lbl LP

About This Record. Up for auction is a guaranteed original super rare copy of the Mc5's outrageous masterpiece 'Kick Out the Jams.'  And it was almost 40 years ago tonight that they Rock the Nation (was that what inspired Montrose years later?).  This is not the original U.S. tan label LP with the liner notes in the cover.  It is also not the super rare red label uncensored copy that people do not believe exists.  But you can tell those because they come in a gatefold cover that has the liner notes. 

Rather, this is the unbelievably rare third issue U.S. Butterfly label version of this LP in uncensored form.  Vinyl is a keep copy.  It does EXIST and here it is!

One of the best Psych Garage LPs ever that Heavy Metal folks should love.  When I was 14 I was trying to figure out why every band did not try and imitate and outdo the Mc5.  Lemme know if you have a white label promo mono copy of their second LP please!

Well, I am sure John Sinclair is disappointed that this gatefold US copy of Kick out the Jams does not contain the inner lyrics, but AMAZINGLY, it is the original uncensored mix.  Hard to believe.  But I guarantee it.  No, the vinyl does not say 'Kick Out The Jams Brothers and Sisters,' but rather something else that would get this ad censored.  [specifically, kick out the jams m**r f**r].  Amazing! Guess they must have found a few original pressings and then slapped the Butterfly label on it!

I voted for McGovern (well, tried, to, but underage) he lost, and now I'm voting for Obama.  Hope Mc5 will play at the convention!  Of Course Fred  Sonic Smith can't be there, but I heard that Patti might be able to take his place.  Rock on guys!

The Labels: Near Mint; no writing or stickers.  Very strong.  YES this uncensored copy of this LP does exist on the Butterfly label.    Maybe they found a box of vinyl with the original Elektra inner paper sleeves and then slapped Butterfly labels on them, in the gatefold cover that accompanied most Red Label versions?

The Cover:  Cover is VG-.  Looks very presentable, but major corner wear, and one inch split on bottom seam , with weak/flaking bottom seam that is still intact.  Top seam also has three inches of seam spliting.  Someone wrote their name on the front cover in small ball point pen.  The inner side of the Gatefold is very nice, except for the wear noticeable on the corners.  Of course, this does NOT have John Sinclair's liner notes inside the cover, just the cool picture of the Mc5. Not a keep cover because of seam wear.  But the spine is fine, all writing is clearly visible on spine except for major corner wear.

The Insert:  This record I acquired from Australia a number of years ago and it had this insert, which is the typical tan/white 12' paper sleeve that existed with the tan label LPs, not the red label Elektra LPs.  As a bonus to the buyer, I can include a photocopy of the press kit for this LP . . . just please ask.

The Vinyl:  Looks strong EX/better with some smudges, plays same..one pop in introduction to Ramblin' Rose. Pop in Kick out the Jams.  Keeper vinyl.
