Meet The Beatles ( 5 inch, two track mono)
Reel to Reel Tape Capitol Z2 2047 3-3/4 IPS
The Beatles first album for Capitol from 1964 on the rare reel to reel format. Two things make this one a little more rare than some of the Beatles reels. The first is that it is one of the only two titles released in the smaller 5" version. It is also one of the only two titles released in mono. This being a two track, you may need an older deck or need to use your balance control. Not sure how many people actually play these anyway. This one comes in a brown box that has some scuffing and wear around the edges and the top left corner is split. The front picture shows some wear in the darker areas and slight age staining in the white area. The sticker saying "New Biasonic Process" says it is 4-track, but that is incorrect. The back is white with black text. There is a tear or split under the words 2 track. There is also general wear and age staining. The reel is VG, clear with a white label that has a small ripple on the left side. Please check out the scans to get a better idea of my descriptions. Meet The Beatles came out in a number configurations on reel to reel. There is regular size 3-3/4 IPS, a 5" four track stereo, a regular size 7-1/2 IPS and the 5" mono posted here. I will have up for auction the other versions as well for any you who want to collect all the variations.
