This is an original metal acetate record for a 1950's group called The Boys Next Door. The music is in the style of the pop college harmony teen-style groups of the time period, like the Four Freshmen and so on. Definitely a good-quality singing group. The cover is just a generic company leftover that has been pasted over with handwritten and drawn info on the group. Then there is a typed paste-over that was attached to the back but is now loose containing all the details about the group and the songs on the album. As far as I know, this was never actually pressed into vinyl/wax for promotion or sale. The original inner acetate sleeve is included, but I've placed the record in a new sleeve. The condtion of the VG acetate itself is as follows: There is a tiny (not very noticeable) edge warp, with a hissy spot at the beginning of both sides. I'm not sure if it's the edge warp that causes this or something else. The needle doesn't jump. There are some light scuffs and sleeve marks. On side one, there are a couple of pops. Otherwise the record plays well with some light background noise. Really good college/teen vocal group! Please note: I'm not sure if this group is related to the Indiana group of the same name who in the 60's did Beach Boy style material and were renamed The Four Wheels. I tend to think not, because this acetate features eight "college boys" and I think they would have been too old by the 60's to be related to the very teenage-looking surf cover group. However, in researching, I did find reference to June Hutton of the Pied Pipers, who in the 1950's sang with a male backup group of this name, and the timing is right for that reference to mean this group. (Please see extra pictures above for all details). Grading as follows: Near Mint=Like New or Very Close. VG++=Slight Wear/Close to Near Mint. VG+=Mild Wear/Nothing Serious. VG=Noticeable Scuffs and/or Scratches but Still Enjoyable.
