Beatles, Meet The Beatles, 1966 Mono Press, 1964 Cover, Capitol T2407 According to Perry Cox, "These very late pressing mono issues are about as scarce as the very first issues." And this one is dated-on-the-dead-wax, issued in the very first-issue 1964 mono covers and is in perfect condition.
Labels... This is the 4th (and final) label variation with only two songs credited to ASCAP (side 2, tracks 1 and 3). This change was approved by Capitol on 3/7/66. No "...Subsidiary..." on the label. Dead Wax... Inscribed (not stamped) on the dead wax (both sides) are the date "9-29-66" as well as "AB 10-66." There is also another stamping, but it is very shallow and hence illegible. Matrix numbers are T1-2047-A, T2-2047-B. Covers... I believe this to be a cover from 1964 because it has no George Martin credit on the back. In addition it has the original tan lettering on the front. The "#3" indicates the Scranton plant. Mono Pressing... By 10/66 Revolver was already out and mono pressings were on their way out. Apparently Capitol was not anxious to print new covers for a 1966 mono pressing of "Meet the Beatles."
Vinyl: NM+ ... Just played it and it is flawless, perfect. My own personal copy, I removed the shrink-wrap a few years ago and this was the third playing, I believe. Since it was played on excellent equipment, properly calibrated, no appreciable damage has been done to the vinyl. Essentially a new copy. (Sad to say, but I have no idea what happened to the now-disappeared original inner sleeve.)
Covers: NM- ... This album spent the first thirty years of its existence in factory-sealed shrink-wrap. But there is a very slight amount of spotting on the front and a tiny bit of yellowing around the perimeter of the back cover. Otherwise fine, completely structurally intact, no fraying, clean and bright.
Packaging includes new audiophile inner sleeve, new outer sleeve, cardboard padding, bubble-wrap and a thick cardboard record box.
