  • Recorded in Chicago on July 1, 1930, this essential historical piece showcases Lizzie Douglas (Memphis Minnie), widely celebrated as one of the most influential female country blues musicians and guitarists of the 20th century.

CONDITION

The shellac disc shows light cosmetic surface handling marks and superficial scuffs typical of age. Retains original gloss on both sides. Labels are clean and fully legible with only minimal center spindle wear.

HISTORY

Memphis Minnie started learning guitar as a young girl, playing at parties and community gatherings. By the age of thirteen, she was busking on Beale Street in Memphis. Her talent was so undeniable that she actually joined the Ringling Brothers Circus, touring with them as a musician for several years before returning to her blues roots.
