Mercury Rev is an American rock band formed in 1989 in Buffalo, New York, with singer/guitarist Jonathan Donahue and guitarist/clarinetist/sound generator operator Sean "Grasshopper" Mackowiak as the only constant members. The band's music has incorporated indie rock, psychedelic rock and American roots, amongst other forms. 
Yerself Is Steam is the 1991 debut album by Mercury Rev. The title is a malapropism of the phrase "Your self-esteem," and is taken from a recurring lyric in the opening "Chasing a Bee." "Car Wash Hair" was released as a single to follow the album.
"Where their fuzz-pedaling peers obliterated the human presence in rock music through a cloud of distortion, Mercury Rev foregrounded the claustrophobic, panicky unease of being trapped inside it."
This is the original UK release by Mint Film from 1991. Coloured vinyl, limited edition marbled light blue.

This record has been kept in storage in a smoke free household. It is from a large record collection, not a DJ collection, this record has never been DJed and is in generally good condition. 
Start with Rocket, Side 1 there are crackles and several small pops in the run in the 1st track. These then devolve into little crackles that run over into the first minute of the opening vocals of 'Chasing the Bee', the 1st track. Right at the end of this track, around 6.48 minutes there are two crackles and three small pop. Between tracks 1 and 2, there are another small pop and a crackle. Between tracks 2 and 3, there are little crackles. With the intro of track 4, 'Blue and Black', around 14 seconds there is a small pop. Then a few more little crackles, around 1 minutes there are a sequence of five crackles. Then around 3.20 minutes there are further little crackles. Finally there are a sequence of crackles between tracks 4 and 5. These little crackles run into the opening vapours of track 5.  At 32 seconds there are two crackles during the intro into 'Sweet Oddysee'. 
Flip it over to Harmony, Side 2 there are crackles in the run in the 1st track. Then during the opening chords of track 1, there are crackles, a small pop at 18 seconds. After the first chorus of 'Frittering', there are further crackles from about 53 seconds to about 1.21 minutes. Then during the closing acoustic guitar chords, around 4.40 minutes there are several small crackles, until the five minute mark. There are wee crackles between tracks 1 and track 2, then again the next two tracks. Next there are crackles during the opening bars of track 3. then there are several crackles during the first whispered chorus around the first minutes of 'Sleepy Rivers'. Finally during the closing seconds of this track at 11.33 minutes there are further crackles. 
The record sleeve shows foxing from being in storage.
