Description

This is a very rare and highly sought-after Metallica Ride The Lightning Japan Box Set, still sealed. This one and Master of Puppets are the most sought after of the Japanese Remaster Box Sets.


I’m an avid collector and was able to acquire these through my friend at Tower Records Japan who works there. Here’s some insight i got from him:


There were only 30,000 copies of this box set produced worldwide of which 1,000 of these were sent to Japan to be repackaged with an OBI Sticker in the front and the Japanese Paper Book in the back. Most arrived to Japan with bumps and dents from the US, which you may notice most others boxes have. This one fortunately doesn’t. Once they were repackaged with the unique Japanese promotional items, they were sealed again but with very thin plastic which easily open in certain parts. This one had a very little tear at the top which was fixed with a little bit of tape by the staff before it came to me. Anyways they were sent out to Tower Records Japan, with a few going to other shops like Disk Union. These boxes were sold out immediately and instantly became rare and soon were posted on reseller sites.


At the moment there is no other sealed Ride The Lightning box set, not even on Discogs, so this is truly one of a kind. The last one of these sealed sold back in 2021.


The box set is a must-have for any Metallica fan or collector.
