Description
Metallica - S & M (Symphony and Metallica) - 1999 OG First Pressing on Elektra Records. Triple Vinyl LP.
The first pressing of this album can be differentiated from other early pressings in three ways. It has the parental advisory/explicit lyrics sticker on the shrink wrap. There is a vertical seam on the shrink wrap on the backside of the album (other pressings do not have the seam on the shrink wrap). There is an Elektra Records logo on the label of disc 2 above the words STEREO 33 1/3 RPM. ALL THREE OF THESE INDICATORS ARE PRESENT ON THIS ALBUM AND CAN BE SEEN IN THE VIDEO AND PHOTOS I HAVE POSTED.
I did a full album complete PLAY TEST on a high end Technics SL-1200MK7 turntable. All turntables/needles (stylus) may sound/play differently but this should give you the most accurate idea of the audio quality.
Disc 1/Side 1 - Overall audio quality is excellent. There was a very, very light "crackle" that was barely noticeable during the quiet intro on Track 1. It went away as soon as the music kicked in. Side 2 sounds excellent.
Disc 2 - Sides 3 & 4 - Audio quality is excellent on both sides.
Disc 3 - Sides 5 & 6 - Audio quality is excellent on both sides.
The vinyl visually has some pretty minimal light surface marks. Nothing that affects playback. No deep scratches or anything like that. It is a strong VG+.
The jacket is in Excellent condition. It is still in the original shrink wrap. It was sliced at the opening of the jacket in order to remove the vinyl from the jacket. The hype sticker and the PARENTAL ADVISORY EXPLICIT LYRICS sticker are both in excellent condition. There is a vertical seam on the back side of the shrink wrap (which indicates it is the first pressing of this album). There is the tinest bit of storage wear to the corners. Very minor. The jacket truly is in very nice condition. Please see the video and the photos posted in the listing to get a good idea of the jacket's condition.
There are two inserts included. Both inserts are in Excellent condition. The records are housed in plain white inner sleeves. The inner sleeves are in excellent condition with no seam splits. I will ship the records in new generic white sleeves to avoid any damage to the original inner sleeves. Records will be mailed outside of the jacket to prevent any damage. The inserts and the original inner sleeves will be inside of the jacket.
Check out my other items. I have many rare or original first issue 90's and 2000's records for sale.
*Most sellers either give a very general visual grading or a vague description. I do my best to be as thorough as possible and describe things in great detail. I am extremely picky and I realize sometimes this makes things sound worse than they actually are, but I believe that a buyer should not be disappointed when they receive a used album. They should have an appropriate expectation and deserve as much detail as possible before making a decision. Please contact me with and questions that you may have prior to purchase.*
